The publisher’s philosophy is that most learn faster by taking small bites, rather than large gulps. Small bites are chewed more thoroughly, swallowed, and digested more readily. Keeping that in mind, many features will be solo items. That way, you will not be bombarded or overwhelmed.

Regular issue published every Tuesday evening
Well, I guess there comes a time in everyone's life when humble pie is on the menu. Today is my day. If you read Tuesday's feature article, you know that I lambasted a new publisher, who'd come to me for advice and had (I thought) ignored it. Yesterday she sent me the corrected version that she'd sent out (although I'd never received it previously), and I just want to go on record as saying that she did, in fact, make those corrections.
I do regret taking such a hard line in my article, and I wish to say that I'm sorry if I ruffled the feathers of someone who is making an effort to contribute. I'm not going to get into the why of what I did, as I'm really not sure myself (I'm being painfully honest here). If you've been a reader for awhile, you know that this isn't how I ususally do things. At the same time, however, I should tell you that patience is not one of my virtues. It's something I've been working on for years . . . well, back to the drawing board!

DIET, THE SLOW KILLER
As promised, I've temporarily suspended publishing personal testimonies in this slot to include a few excerpts from the amazing book that started it all, "Lessons From the Miracle Doctors," by Jon Barron.
The following is from the chapter, "Diet, the Slow Killer."
High glycemic foods that cause elevated insulin levels and the concomitant problems . . . include:
Bananas
Raisins
Carrots
Potatoes
Corn
Breads, cereals, pastas, and rice of all kinds
Virtually all snack foods
Sugars of all kinds and soda pop
Earlier, I mentioned that there was a big HOWEVER to the glycemic index. What is that however? It's called chewing. If you chew your food well enough, the saliva neutralizes almost all of the glycemic response. So how much do you need to chew your food?
There's an old saying that says, "You should drink your solids and chew your liquids." What that means is that you should chew the dry food you eat until it turns to liquid in your mouth (about 40 chews per mouthful), and that you should swish liquids back and forth in your mouth (chew them as it were) an equal number of times.
As we've already discussed when we talked about refined foods, you should give up snack foods and refined flour products and sugar sweetened foods for a number of reasons. On the other hand, for most people, if you chew them enough, it's still okay to eat all of the fresh fruits and vegetables you want—even if they are high on the glycemic index.

BUSINESS CARDS AT THE CASH REGISTER
by Dr. Kevin Nunley
There is a company in my town that places a small display of business-card-sized ads in restaurants. The cards go next to the cash register and advertise everything from sporting goods stores to accountants, to general contracting. In most every case, those advertising are small or home-based businesses.
This cheap and simple method works. Smart Card Displays has
been successfully providing this advertising service in the Salt
Lake City area for 10 years. Small businesses love it.
The cards are always printed simply on colored card stock. Most include a simple graphic to get attention and help quickly
communicate the ad's message.
You might consider starting an advertising service like this in your own community. Many restaurants, stores, and high-traffic offices welcome the cards.
Also think about letting customers put their cards in a card
holder next to your checkout area. This provides a fine service
to customers while giving people something to look at while you
process their orders.
Success is connected to action. Successful people keep moving forward . . . They makes mistakes, but they don't quit.

A BIBLE RIDDLE
The son of Elisabeth and Zacharias had a special diet when he grew up which consisted of what?
ANSWER: John the Baptist's diet was locusts and wild honey, as found in Matthew 3:4: "And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey."
Note: Some people think that the locusts he ate were grasshoppers, while others contend that they were not "bugs" at all, but locust beans. What do you think?
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.

TODAY'S CHUCKLE
This is an idiot story—and remember, these folks are really out there!!!!
I am a medical student currently doing a rotation in toxicology at the poison control center. Today this woman called in very upset because she caught her little daughter eating ants.
I quickly reassured her that the
ants are not harmful, and there would be no need to bring her daughter into
the hospital.
She calmed down, and at the end of the conversation happened to mention that she gave her daughter some ant poison to eat in order to kill the ants.
I told her that she'd better bring her daughter
into the emergency room right away.
Here's your idiot sign, lady. Wear it with pride.

FIVE COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS TO ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH YOUR ONLINE
BUSINESS
by Robin Nobles
How successful is your online business? Are you achieving the
monetary rewards that you'd hoped to achieve when you set up your
website?
If not, you may have fallen prey to one of five common
misconceptions to achieving success with an online business.
Misconception #1—If you put up a website, people will come.
Regretfully, this is far from the truth. Competition is fierce on
the Internet, and you must learn how to compete in order to have
a successful online business. Putting up a website is the first
step, but doing nothing more will ensure your site's failure.
Misconception #2—Amateur promotion will render professional
results. Many people believe that they can purchase a handy dandy
software program that will submit their sites to 999 search
engines and directories, and their promotion efforts are over.
The truth of the matter is, the majority of the traffic to most
websites comes from the major search engines and directories, so
submitting to 990 other ones is simply a waste of time and won't
bring you any success.
Misconception #3—Submitting your site to the major search
engines and directories is all you need to do. Wrong. Think of it
this way: there are 10 search results per page for most of the
engines. Most people won't go through any more than three pages
of search results before giving up and trying another search. So,
only the top 30 rankings really matter. If your site is #3,429
out of two million results, how much traffic do you think you'll
get?
Misconception #4—META tags are the key to success with the
search engines. Truthfully, very few of the major engines even
look at META tags any more. So, sticking META tags on your pages
won't bring you traffic and sales.
Misconception #5—The key to success on the Web is achieving top 10 rankings for keywords that are important to your business.
This way of thinking is outdated. Instead, the key to success on
the Web is bringing in extremely targeted traffic that converts
to sales. You can have all the #1 rankings in the world, but if
the rankings don't convert to traffic that ultimately converts to
sales, your website will never be a success.
If you're ready to activate your website for success, why not
take advantage of simple but powerful insiders' strategies that
mean genuine business. For more information,

INSPIRATION
"I wish for you . . ."
Comfort on difficult days,
Smiles when sadness intrudes,
Rainbows to follow the clouds,
Laughter to kiss your lips,
Sunsets to warm your heart
Gentle hugs when spirits sag,
Friendships to brighten your being,
Beauty for your eyes to see,
Confidence for when you doubt,
Faith so that you can believe,
Courage to know yourself,
Patience to accept the truth,
And love to complete your life.
God Bless you!
I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
To guide you and protect you
As you go along your way . . .
His love is always with you,
His promises are true.
No matter what the tribulation
You know He will see us through.
So when the road you're traveling on
Seems difficult at best,
Give your problems to the Lord
And God will do the rest.
