I migrated to New Orleans LA in 1965 after active duty in the U.S. Navy. Decided I wanted to become involved in the food service industry and began cooking. I trained under a chef for 5 years and then started to pursue my own agenda. I progressed from Sous Chef to Executive Chef. Moved from New Orleans back to Dallas in 1980 and continued cooking until 1997 when I retired.
I started a website in January of 2000 and called it WHYLEEKYOTEE (Wiley Coyote) with the idea of giving away free recipes. I soon found out that if things were to be free, there had to be an income source to maintain that concept. I opened a
6-floor shopping mall on the site, which is still there today, and then progressed to online gambling as well. Somewhere in that process I became a webmaster, and belong to the Webmasters Association.
Since the site has not changed in approximately a year, I have decided to revamp it and remove some of the items, change some of them, and add and area called "The Assemblage," dealing with information items, such as eBooks, software, links exchange, and banner exchange, as well as other items in this genre. If you visit this site, do so with the understanding that it is now a "work in progress" and will change over the next few months, hopefully for the better.
I fully retired on August 1 this year and am looking forward to my retirement . . . LOL
On October 30 of this year I was called and interviewed by the "Nationals Who's Who Directory." Both I and my website have been accepted and will be listed in the upcoming directory.
As far as goals, dreams, interests . . . I guess that will be determined as I go along, and whatever I do, and wherever I wind up, will be fine with me.

METHODICAL BACKWARDS MARKETING
Backwards, I say, because you first start where you want the customer to take action. You have to ask yourself how you want the customer to respond and work backwards from there.
For maximum effectiveness, do not mix methods. In most cases, include only ONE of the following in your advertising, online and off:
Your website address.
Your toll-free phone number and/or home phone.
Your email address.
Remember: any time you give people a choice, you confuse them. You force them to make a decision, however minor it may be. When they have only one alternative, they’ll use it without having to think about it.
Do not even bother advertising an address for people to write to, as most people these days have no time and won’t bother to use it. They may clip it out and stick it away to use in the future, but they will never get around to it.
In descending order of effectiveness, what to do if you want the customer to go to your website:
Online, advertise your website via ezines.
Online, advertise your website via targeted, opt-in email lists.
Online, write articles for targeted ezines and submit them, together with your URL.
Online, develop a series of at least seven sales letters, to be delivered by autoresponder to fresh, targeted leads, which you purchase only from a reputable company, such as, Cutting Edge.
Online, work to improve the search engine positioning of your website.
Off line, put your URL in all newspaper and magazine advertising.
Off line, put your URL on flyers and distribute them regularly.
Off line, put your URL on signs and hang them strategically and regularly.
Off line, put your URL on your business cards and distribute them freely.
If you would rather be contacted by telephone, it is advisable to advertise a toll-free number; however, if you also include your home number, many serious people will call that first, even before a toll-free number, believe it or not. Why? People like dealing with real people. They like to know who you are. Your voice can put them at ease. Most people associate toll-free numbers with cold businesses, and they realize that most of the time they’re going to find some hireling at the other end with a canned spiel.
What to do if you want the customer to call you:
Online, advertise your toll-free number in ezines.
Online, advertise your toll-free number via targeted, opt-in email lists.
Online, write articles for targeted ezines, submit them, and include your toll-free number. (Remember the note above about home phone numbers.)
Online, develop a series of at least seven sales letters, to be delivered by autoresponder to fresh, targeted leads with phone numbers, which you purchase only from a reputable company, such as, Cutting Edge. Be sure phone numbers are included with your leads. Then, if the customer doesn’t call you, you can call him.
Off line, put your toll-free number in all newspaper and magazine advertising.
Off line, put your toll-free number on flyers and distribute them regularly.
Off line, put your toll-free number on signs and hang them strategically and regularly.
Off line, put your toll-free number (and consider adding your home number also) on your business cards and distribute them freely.
Finally, if you want to have the customer send you an email, proceed in this order:
Online, advertise your email address via ezines.
Online, advertise your email address via targeted, opt-in email lists.
Online, write articles for targeted ezines and submit them, together with your email address.
Online, include your email address in a series of at least seven sales letters, to be delivered by autoresponder to fresh, targeted leads, which you purchase only from a reputable company, such as, Cutting Edge.
Off line, put your email address AND a phone number in all newspaper and magazine advertising. We've come a long way, but not everyone is online yet.
Off line, put your email address AND a phone number on flyers and distribute them regularly.
Off line, put your email address AND a phone number on signs and hang them strategically and regularly.
Off line, put your email address AND a phone number on your business cards and distribute them freely.
Then the key to selling your customer is to respond to them as quickly as possible, if they miss direct contact with you on the first try. If you don’t, chances are they won’t even remember responding to your ad!

TODAY'S ENGLISH LESSON
Seeing the same elementary mistakes over and over again has prompted this publisher to write an English lesson each issue.
This one
concerns the misuse of "their," "there," and "they're." Now
listen up!
"Their" refers to group of people, as in "their money — their
clothes — their papers — their music." In other words, "their"
indicates ownership.
"There" refers to place (as in "over there").
"There" also can begin a sentence, such as "There was nowhere
else to go." — "There, but for the grace of God, go I." — "There
is no rest for the wicked."
"They're is simply a contraction of "they are" and should be
used only as such.

AFFILIATES NEED TO "CAPTURE" THE EMAIL ADDRESS

One of the secrets to a successful online home based business
is capturing your visitors' email addresses so you can contact
them again and again. The most effective way to capture email
addresses is by offering a free newsletter, free email course,
or free ebook.
For affiliates, capturing the email address is a bit more
difficult, but certainly no less important.
If you resell products or services on your website, this is
done through affiliate links. Quite often your visitor comes
to your site, clicks an affiliate link, and leaves—perhaps
never to return again.
You MISS capturing the email address!
So how can you ensure you get that email address?
While you will never capture everybody's email address there
is a way to increase the number of email addresses you do
capture.
You need to redesign your website and change the focus away
from affiliate programs and towards getting email addresses.
Here are three web design techniques you can use immediately:
1—Offer a free newsletter on your home page or entry page and
make the sign-up process really easy.
2—Offer a free email course on your home page or entry page.
3—Take the affiliate links OFF your home page. You are much
better putting affiliate links in your newsletter or email
course.
To have a better chance of getting the email address, it comes
down to offering your visitors something else before giving
them access to your affiliate links.
The best "offer" is something for free, like a free
newsletter, free email course, or free ebook.
Believe me, altering your website like this does work. I used
to have lots of affiliate links on my home page but not many
sales.
Now, most of the people who purchase through my affiliate
links are already subscribers to my newsletter or my email
courses.
Do not underestimate the importance of this. Redesign your website to capture your visitors' email addresses.
