How To Stay Young
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight,
and height.
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches and complainers
pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts,
gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind
is the devil's workshop."
4. Enjoy the simple things. When the children are young,
that is all that you can afford. When they are in college,
that is all that you can afford. When you are on retirement,
that is all that you can afford!
5. Laugh often, long, and loudly. Laugh until you gasp for
breath. Laugh so much that you can be tracked in the
store by your distinctive laughter.
6. Tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The
only person who is with you your entire life, is yourself.
Be alive while you are alive; don't put out a mailbox on
the highway of death, and just wait in residence for your mail.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it is
family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is
unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve,
get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Go to the mall, the next county,
a foreign country, but not to guilt country.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them at every
opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Q: A man is driving from Madrid to Paris. Then there is a fork in the road without a sign saying which way to go. There is a house, so he decides to ask for directions.

The man has only 50 francs with him, so he knows he can ask only one question. What question will he ask and get an answer that will help him?

FEATURE ARTICLE
Time is Money
One day a gentleman walked into one of Ben Franklin's bookstores.
As one of the clerks went to assist him, the gentleman asked the
clerk the price of the book he wished to purchase. The young
clerk looked at the price posted on the book and said, "That book
is one dollar, sir."
The gentleman began to haggle with the clerk over the price.
The clerk assured him that the correct price for the book was one
dollar and no lower. As the man realized that his efforts to
haggle with the clerk were going nowhere, he insisted on speaking
with Ben Franklin directly.
Franklin stopped his work, walked out to the storefront and
the gentleman asked, "What is the price of this book?" Franklin
answered, "One dollar and a quarter." The gentleman was confused
and replied, "Your clerk just said it was a dollar." Franklin
picked up the book and answered, "Yes, it was a dollar. But now
you're wasting my time."
Franklin, you see, knew the value of fleeting moments that add
up to hours.
Regular readers know that I put a lot of stock in
blessings-both giving and receiving them-and I even found a
blessing (believe it or not) in the devastating worm virus from which I'm still recovering.
The blessing is this: After a few years of being online, one
tends to accumulate a lot of excess baggage, with the perfectly
good intention of checking out this and that "one of these days."
Trouble is, "one of these days" never arrives, and very soon we
are drowning in a sea of sites and programs, many of which
will be outdated if and when we ever would get to them!
The worm virus I had was so bad that I ended up having to
re-format my entire hard drive, which meant losing everything
that wasn't backed up. For me, this meant that I lost many old
emails and all of my favorite internet sites. I'd forgotten all about backing up my favorites. In fact, I don't even know if that's possible to do, not being that familiar with back-up possibilities.
But whatever, the blessing for me is that I now have an
unlittered, uncluttered slate to start off the New Year. That,
folks, equates to a clearer mind-at least that's the way it works
for me.
That, combined with my email inbox now being restricted to
SUBJECT and FROM lines only, causes me to use my time more
wisely, as I am one prone to insatiable curiosity, and now I
don't waste time checking out all the temptations of
God-only-knows-what that flood my inbox by the minute.
So, while I don't wish a virus on anyone as a way to get a
blessing in disguise, I now am in a frame of mind where I truly can bless the one who sent it to me and thank God for it!

A BIBLE RIDDLE
How long was it, once the flood started, before Noah could once again see the mountain tops??
ANSWER: 7 1/2 months. Genesis 7:11 says the flood began on the 17th day of the 2nd month. Genesis 8:5 says Noah was able to see the top of the mountains on the 1st day of the 10th month. Thus, 7.5 months.

Relief for Stiff Neck and Sore Muscles
I work at a nursing home, and we do a lot of lifting in caring for the residents. As a result, I constantly have a stiff neck and sore, aching muscles across my shoulders. The first time I used the Balance Plus creme it gave me relief IMMEDIATELY. In all the products I have tried over the years, I have never had any to help me within the first twenty minutes. So I thought it would probably wear off in 30-45 minutes. I still had relief the next morning!
I've been keeping the creme with me and share it with anyone who has a complaint. It helps them all, coworkers and patients. Thank you so very much.

TODAY'S CHUCKLE
Why Moms are so special
This will sound familiar!
Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."
She went to the kitchen and made sandwiches for the next day's lunches, rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table, and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.
She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the wash, ironed a shirt, and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table and put the telephone book back into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket, and hung up a towel to dry.
She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a textbook out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope, and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.
Mom then creamed her face, put on moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth, and trimmed her nails.
Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed." I'm on my way," she said.
She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out a bedside lamp, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks in the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.
In her own room, she set the alarm, laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her list of things to do for tomorrow.
About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular, "I'm going to bed." And he did ... without another thought.
Anything extraordinary here? ... Wonder why women live longer ...?

TODAY'S ENGLISH LESSON
Seeing the same elementary mistakes over and over again has prompted this publisher to write an English lesson each issue.
This one's long overdue—in fact, I thought I'd done it before, but past issues don't show that to be so, so here 'tis:
Please learn the difference between "it's" and "its."
"It's" is a contraction and is used in place of "it is."
"Its" is a pronoun and indicates possession. An easy way to remember the difference: use "its" whenever "his" could be substituted for it.
Reminder: We offer a reasonably priced editing/proofreading service for articles or even entire ezines. Just email: editingservice@elfexpressionsezine.com

Why People Quit... by Tom Wood
CEOs quit leading. Athletes quit working out. Sales people quit selling. People quit every day. In huge proportions. They quit their diet. They quit their jobs. Sometimes they even quit living ... And nearly 80% of people who start a home-based business quit within the first year! Whoa!!!
With numbers like these, I've become somewhat obsessed with figuring out ... Why people quit?
And I think I've figured it out! Well, actually, I didn't figure it out; a bunch of psychologists did. I just recently learned the answer. And it may not be the reason you think.
The best part is, once you know the real reason people quit, you will be able to protect yourself from quitting on your own dreams. And you can help others from quitting on their dreams, too.
You see, for a long time we've been doing a lot of things wrong in network marketing. And those "things" are why so many people have quit. Let me explain ...
Have you ever heard of extrinsic motivation? Neither had I. That is, until I was reading a psychological study of success. It was eye-opening.
Extrinsic motivation is when you are motivated by external things, like money, recognition and rewards. This is how we motivate in our home-based networking businesses. "How much are you earning?" "What's your level?" "Are you walking across stage?" "What pin are you wearing?" etc. ...
Extrinsic motivation works. For a while. Okay, for about a minute. Why? Because people won't stick around long enough for you to create any lasting wealth if they have only extrinsic motivators.
You see, if they don't get a big paycheck, they get frustrated and quit. And if all they got was a pretty pin, they think, "this pin isn't all it's cracked up to be," and they quit. Trust me—I see it all the time in my business.
Enter Intrinsic Motivation. That's what keeps people going ...
Intrinsic motivation is when you are motivated by inner things like purpose, passion, and mission. People who are motivated intrinsically do not quit very easily. They stick.
Think about it. Religions may be the biggest "networks" in the world. And they don't pay you a dime (little or no extrinsic motivators). But the intrinsic motivation—the sense of purpose—is why so many people stay the course.
Think about it ... Sales jobs have the biggest turnover. It's all extrinsic motivation. If you make the sale, you get the check and a pin. But that's it. Most sales managers don't care how you made the sale. They just reward you on your results.
How about this for a distinction? Of all the top networkers I've met, 99.9% of them have massive intrinsic motivators. They have a deep intrinsic desire to share their product and company. They believe the product is worth the price and good for the customer. They feel like they are making a difference. They feel proud. They love what they are doing—and becoming—more than what they are getting. They love the process, not the results. Okay, okay, they love the results, too.
But without loving the process, the results would be worthless to them. When they tell you that, if they won ten million dollars in the lottery, they'd keep doing what they are doing—they're not kidding.
They're motivated intrinsically.
Every hear of TGI Friday's? It's the number one restaurant chain in its class. Here's what the CEO did that made that company so successful. He found a way to motivate intrinsically.
Here was the problem in his restaurants. Wait-staff in a new restaurant would work hard. They want to pay their rent; they have bills. They do whatever it takes. Smiles included. Then they get the money. Their extrinsic motivators are taken care of. The smiles stop. They start coming in late. They complain about the customers.
They don't love what they do (no intrinsic motivation). And people stop coming to the restaurant.
So the CEO of TGI Friday's figures he's got to find a way to reward people intrinsically. His wait-staff is mostly twenty-something. Remember those wanderlust years? He tells them if they are good with service, he'll set them up to work in any city they want. Can you say, "Road trip!"? They love it (intrinsically)! And you can tell on their faces when they serve you.
Brilliant.
So what are you doing to keep your people from quitting?
Yes, you've got to have the extrinsic motivators—the goals—for your people. And make sure they love what they do. Hold fun events. Take road trips together. Do weekend workshops where you build a sense of team. Make calls together, again, so that it's fun! Remind yourself about the purpose in your products. Remind your team about it, too. Do it with passion. Lots of passion. The kind of passion that makes you feel good inside (intrinsically).
Here's the motto: "Get 'em with the money. Keep 'em with the mission."
Extrinsic motivators attract people to you. Intrinsic motivators make them stay with you.
Now you know.
Go make a boat load of money, make a difference in the world, and remember to love every minute of it!

INSPIRATION
This is really good
Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools any more, because the word "God" is mentioned ... a kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer. I liked it ...
Now I sit me down in school, where praying is against the rule, for this great nation under God finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites, it violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange, or green; that's no offense; it's a freedom scene. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall might offend someone with no faith at all. In silence alone we must meditate; God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, and pierce our noses, tongues, and cheeks. They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible. To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant senior queen, and the "unwed daddy," our senior king. It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong. We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls, study witchcraft, vampires, and totem poles. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed. No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess, when chaos reigns; the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot, my soul please take!
Amen!
If you aren't ashamed to do it, please pass this on. Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me," I will be ashamed of you before my Father."
Not ashamed. Passing this on.
