Volume 8 - Issue 12 — March 25, 2008
Published every Tuesday
Hi, all you readers out there. Before I forget, there will be no issue next week, as I am taking a short hiatus to visit my expecting daughter in Indianapolis. Yes, grandchild #26 is on his way, due the end of October! And I'm telling you, it's just as exciting as the first one—especially since it will probably be the last one, considering that Jen is our youngest, and with her blended family, the baby will be their fifth child.
Anyway, I want to welcome all new subscribers; hope you enjoy our ezine, and again, I reiterate that, if you have not already done so, email me a short bio and grab some free publicity; that way we'll get to know you better. Just don't make it sound like an ad, although you may include your email addy and 'net address. Tell us about your background, where you live, your life, family, etc.
If you enjoy this ezine, you can help it grow faster by introducing 'elf Expressions to just one other person—because the faster we grow, the more we all benefit from the promo copy. Thank you!
If you've missed any issues, you still can see them.
Just go to:
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

A Healthier You
Again we interrupt our addition/subtraction lifestyle series with the following, which I find to be most profound:
God, our Great Creator, left us clues as to what foods help what parts of our bodies!
A sliced carrot looks like the human eye The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye . . . and yes, science now shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to the eyes and strengthens them.
A tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over three dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, bok choy, rhubarb, and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target and are 23% sodium.
If you don't have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Eggplant, avocadoes and pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female—they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers.
And how profound is this? . . . It takes exactly nine months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well as to overcome male sterility. And what do they look like?
Sweet potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.
Grapefruits, oranges, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.
A man, to carry on a successful business, must have imagination.
He must see things as in a vision, a dream of the whole thing.

The Danger of Being Neutral
Neutrality sometimes means that someone does not have enough facts to make a decision one way or the other.
More often, however, it means that a person does not want to make a commitment (1) for fear of taking what others might consider the wrong side, (2) for fear of being obligated to take some action to support a commitment.
There is an old saying, "You'll either stand for something, or you'll fall for anything."
Neutral people are wishy washy.
There are many so-called "good" people in the world. Seemingly, they do all the right things, i.e., obeying the laws of the land, trying to rear "good" children, who will grow up to be "good" also, trying to give back by maybe doing some volunteer work, doing favors for people, such as the elderly, maybe working with children, etc.
These "good" people may even attend church on a regular basis, may be nominal or carnal Christians, but they are lip service people only. They are uncommitted and neutral, ready to turn tail and run, rather than to stand up and fight for what (if anything) they believe in.
As long as there are two cars in the garage, a television set or two, and a "chicken in the pot," so to speak, they are content just to be "good" and go along just to get along.
Does this "good" person describe you? You keep a low profile and don't rock the boat or make waves? You don't want to stir anything up or draw any kind of attention to yourself out of some vague fear?
You just want to live and let live, and that's all well and good also, but what value does that give you? What kind of "spine" does that give you? Where is your fortitude? Where is your growth? How will you "hold up," if the time should come when you need the extra strength the comes only from having weathered adversity and trials and persecution?
Think about that the next time you find yourself being passive instead of active . . .
Fill in the blank: "The ______ of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good."
1 — eyes
2 — ears
3 — angels
4 — servants

Today's English Lesson
Seeing the same elementary mistakes over and over again has prompted this publisher to write an English lesson each issue. Look for some of these lessons to be repeated, because the mistakes are!
This one concerns a common verbal mistake . . . a most irritating one, at least to me!
And it always boggles my mind when I hear this faux pas from the lips of "highly" educated people. I speak of those who say "pitcher" when they mean "picture."
And not once does anyone ever say "picture" instead of "pitcher." Why this is I have no clue.
Surely these people know the difference, and to give them the benefit of the doubt, it's just a careless habit they've fallen into. If you are guilty of this, puh-leeze correct yourself!

A sense of humor was provided to console him for what he is.

Hire an Internet Marketing Expert for Online Success
by Dean Phillips
It never ceases to amaze me how many otherwise intelligent people set-up a website, without any type of plan or clue about how to promote it, how to write a sales letter, how to write an ad—nothing! Fact is, nowadays, anyone can have a website. But once you get one, then what? How are you going to make money with it?
If you don't know what you're doing, then do the smart thing and hire an Internet marketing expert.
What? You say you can't afford to hire an Internet marketing expert. Well, believe it or not, there are other ways to hire an Internet marketing expert, besides paying an expensive flat rate or hourly fee.
Ours is the age of substitutes: Instead of language we have jargon; instead of principles, slogans; and instead of genuine ideas, bright suggestions.

Get the Most out of Your Online Purchases
by Anne Marie
Here is a little trick for free and simple advertising for your
website/business.
Think of all of the products you have purchased and programs
you have signed up for in your online ventures.
Some of them were good, others were not. For all the products
that satisfied you, go to each one of the providing companies
and submit a testimonial.
What is a testimonial?
According to Wikipedia, "In promotion and advertising,
a testimonial or endorsement consists of a written or spoken
statement, sometimes from a public figure, sometimes from
a private citizen, extolling the virtue of some product."
Just write a few sentences that are meaningful and that make
the product or the service sound good (but only if it's really good).
Then just email your testimonial to the companies that provided that
service or product. Make sure you put the word "testimonial"
in the subject line of your email and your name and website url
at the bottom of the testimonial.
Here is an example of a testimonial I have recently received
from one of my customers:
"I just want to say that I appreciate how helpful you have been.
You are very responsive with a great eye for detail.
I would recommend you!"
My customer's name
My customer's website
Some companies will not post your testimonial, but many will do it
if you write a meaningful and true one.
Pay attention! From a visitor's view, testimonials are of three types, and so it should be for the companies:
1 — Testimonials signed John Doe from California and no link to a website.
You can see such fakes all over the internet, especially on
money-making websites where they promise you'll make
a lot of money without doing anything. You know the type.
No serious visitor will believe such a testimonial.
2 — Testimonials containing an affiliate link.
That's a step forward, but not a big one. Put yourself in a visitor's shoes . . . Who's this guy who endorsed this program? Well . . . is just one of the hundreds of unidentified affiliates of a certain program...
3 — Testimonials containing a link to your website.
Well, now a visitor can see that a real person, a serious
business owner, endorsed that product or program.
That's completely another story!
And by the way, you know that Google has revolutionized S.E.O.
(search engine optimization) by heavily weighting the importance
of links. In short, if many sites link to your website, then your
site will probably get a higher ranking.
That's what the testimonial will provide: a one-way link to your
website.
This is a very effective and free way of advertising.

Twinkies and Root Beer
A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and he started his journey.
When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.
The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.
The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.
Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?
"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"
He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!
