Today we return to our mathematical lifestyle change where we are adding or subtracting something beneficial or detrimental, and doing it one week at a time.
And so we are back to adding . . . this time it's something that will cost you nothing—we will be concentrating on deliberately changing your thinking to thoughts of wellness, because thoughts have been proven scientifically to change the human body!

So be aware that your thoughts can bring on disease faster than any other cause, and start working to change them. But you can change your thoughts effectively only by overriding the negative ones with spoken words, as I mentioned in another recent article in this ezine.

How Do We Get Over That "Belief" Hump?
There's just one way that I know of, and that is to read and study the Word of God daily. And not just perfunctorily either. I'm talking about an ongoing, in-depth project.
At the same time, I realize that few of us are willing to "make" the time necessary to devote to the Lord.
Let me say this: When I first embarked on my spiritual journey of discovery, I wasn't so willing either. But someone told me to take just 5-7 minutes first thing in the morning to open and read the Word, and I did just that.
Very quickly, this small window of time expanded involuntarily, and eventually I found myself totally immersed in study for 2-3 hours a day! I watched the tube less and less and developed an insatiable hunger for the Scriptures.
Did I believe at first? Absolutely not. I'd been a devoted skeptic and critic of the worst kind, and not because I was familiar with that which I'd been putting down either. No! I'd never even read the Holy Writ. Now, is that ignorance, or what?
But, coming to belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior is relatively easy. The hard thing, the question I ask in the title of this article, refers to believing what Jesus said! We are instructed to trust and obey. Obeying, to me, is a whole lot easier than trusting and believing implicitly in the words He said.
For example, Mark 11:22-24 says to "have faith in God." Actually, the original Greek says to "have the faith of God." See the difference?
The Bible goes on to say that if we speak to a mountain (problem) and order it to go away and if we believe and do not doubt in our hearts, it will be done.
Two little verses, but giants in impact.
So, now that I have gone beyond mere reading and studying, it is my opinion that meditation on the Words of Jesus is what is required to advance to the next level of belief.

This is happening right here in our own country!
We must stop this immediately!
Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper? Groceries
are heavier. And everything is farther away. Yesterday I
walked to the corner, and I was dumbfounded to discover
how long our road had become!
And you know, people are less considerate now, especially
the young ones. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask
them to speak up, they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face!
What do they think I am, a lip reader?
I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age.
On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am.
I ran into an old friend the other day, and she has aged so much
that she didn't even recognize me!
I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair
this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection. Well,
now, even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!
Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking
life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.
Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else
would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as
18 or 20? Do they think no one notices?
The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank.
Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial? Ha! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just whom do these people think they're fooling?
I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on
—but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy, too:
they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one
could ever find a number in there!
All I can do is pass along this warning: We are under attack!
Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone
will have to suffer these awful indignities.

Today's English Lesson
Seeing the same elementary mistakes over and over again has prompted this publisher to write an English lesson each issue. Look for some of these lessons to be repeated, because the mistakes are!
The other day I read where someone was "siting" a particular author. Of course, the writer of that piece meant "citing."
"Siting" means locating or positioning. I guess the best mneumonic device for keeping these straight would probably be to remember that a citation is awarded. And a site is where people go online.
Can anyone think of a better way to remember the difference in these two?

Increase Blog Traffic with Carnivals

If you're looking for a quick and simple way to drive more traffic to your blog, consider blog carnivals. Until recently, I didn't know
what a blog carnival was, so if that's new term to you, don't be
concerned.
I'm not certain where the term "carnival" came from, but one
blog owner will host the carnival each week, and you submit a post
that could be included in the blog carnival at the host's discretion
as long as you submit before the deadline.
When all the submissions are in, the host reads them all, and based solely on his/her judgment, selects which posts to include in the blog carnival that week.
The host will make a post on his/her blog with links to the posts s/he decided to include. Some hosts will provide commentary about
the posts and why they were selected and some won't.
Blog carnivals tend to attract a lot of visitors, and each visitor will potentially visit your blog by clicking on the link to the post you submitted.
Whatever the topic of your blog, you should have no problems finding
several relevant blog carnivals. If you're really ambitious, you can
host a blog carnival on your blog. It's really very simple and
doesn't take much time.
If you don't know where to start looking for a blog carnival, all
you have to do is search for the term "blog carnival" in your
favorite search engine. Try http://www.blogcarnival.com, too. That site has a listing of over 1,000 blog carnivals on a variety of topics, one of which will certainly meet your needs. It takes only a few minutes to submit a post. Just select a recent post from your blog and submit the url, along with your name and email address. That's all there is to it.
If you want to look for even more blog carnivals, you might search
for "pet blog carnivals," for example, if you have a blog about pets. Not only will you find several blog carnivals and get some free traffic, you'll also probably find a few good blogs you might want to read yourself.
So go ahead and take a few minutes right now to find a
blog carnival on a topic relevant to your blog and submit a post.
